Pears and Pebbles

I've been busy making lots of fun things lately.
It is my brother-in-law's wedding this weekend on the beautiful Gold Coast, all of my husband's family will be there. So, I've had wedding outfits to make for myself and the 2 kidlies, a wedding present to draw and a 40th birthday present to paint (for my other brother-in-law), springtime kids clothes to make as well as a wedding reading to prepare for and time to feel excited about my boy's 'ring-bearer role'!

Here is the drawing for the new happy couple - these two pears were sitting on the kitchen bench, leaning into each other lovingly and I thought would make a lovely wedding drawing - a pair of pears in love! (not that my brother-in-law and his wife in any way resemble pears!!). It's a grafite and coloured pencil drawing - and I should have photographed it before framing!

Here is the 40th birthday present. It's a painting of a cairn of 4 beach pebbles that I collected when on holiday in Sardinia about 5 years ago. Sardinia is a special place for me, I have a dear friend who lives there and seeing as my brother-in-law likes the sea, I thought these pebbles would be a good thing to paint for him! It's painted in acrylics on canvas, and should also have been photographed before framing!

And now, after surviving a very sick Brisbane August (without falling ill), me and the kids are sick. So it's lots of sleep and cuddles to get better in time for the wedding!

Oh yuck, my kids just came down with something today (temperatures and lethary so far, so we're waiting to see what it's going to turn into) and we had been the same as you guys - an illness-free Winter. Go figure! Hope you are all bouncing fit by the time the wedding happens. Those presents are just amazing - you really are so talented!!! And not only do they look so beautiful, but they have such beautiful sentiments behind them too. Sending lots of get well quickly vibes your way :)

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well now! I sure hope you all improve before the weekend!

Ali your artwork is beautiful! I didn't realise that you did drawings & that you painted. Gosh how talented are you!?! Now I remember reading somewhere (maybe your profile?) that you are an art teacher? Is that right? If so, then it makes perfect sense that you're so creative in so many different areas. I'm surprised that you don't offer drawings & paintings in your Etsy store also. Or perhaps you have done in the past & I've not seen them. Anyway, sorry for babbling so much but just wanted to say how much I like what you do. These are lovely pieces. Lovely gifts! :) Take care & get well soon xo

Ali, I'm with Harriet on this one, I didn't know you did drawings or painted for that matter! Your art work is absolutely beautiful! I adore these type drawings/paintings! And I hope you and your family feels better soon, it's no fun when everyone is ill!

Ali, I too didn't know how talented you are at drawing and painting. I knew you were an art teacher, but I guess I hadn't seen any of your work in your shop I figured it wasn't an area you specialized in. I agree with Hey Harriet, you should sell this stuff, it's amazing. And I love how you're inspired by what you see that's close around you.

Hope you and your kids are feeling better soon. My 5 year old came home from school sick today. Lots of sickness going around by the sounds of it. :-)

Ali, what a lucky brother-in-law you have. You are certainly a most talented artist and your paintings are simply stunning.

So sorry to hear that the dreaded Bug has visited your family. Perfect timing just before a wedding! I do hope you all recover in plenty of time.
