Shadow Shot Sunday #18

Wow, I'm up to #18! That's 18 weeks, 4 1/2 months that I've been taking more notice of the shadows! This week's shot is another taken on my my walk to the train station.

There's something about road signs that appeals to me; something about obeying the 'rules', the simplicity in their design, and they also remind me of Jeffery Smart's works - which I love.

Head on over to Hey Harriet for more info on Shadow Shot Sunday and to see the other great shots!

Happy Sunday everyone!

When I saw your image, I immediately thought of Jeffery Smart before I read your story. Great minds!

I immediately loved the shot...very nice composition...I like the bricks and curves amid all the straight lines. But when you mentioned road signs...and I actually connected with the words Keep Left. Well, we in the states seem to have nothing but the elections on our minds (sorry)...and then I thought...how perfect...KEEP LEFT! I love it!! Thanks:D

Hey your post starts off kind of like mine. 18! Woohoo! You've almost caught up to me! Love your shot! What I love even more is the picture I have in my head of you standing in the middle of the road taking a photo of the sign. With cars zooming past & people thinking 'oh what an oddball she is, taking photos of road signs' hehe. They just don't get it. I get it. And I like it that you're an oddball Ali :)

Love the shot too, the brick-work is so cool...but you need to move over to the left...ha! I too can visualize you standing there taking the shot of the sign...what is she looking at???

Interesting how the road sign has a central pole, but casts a shadow with the pole set like a flag pole! Quite an unexpected, intriguing shot!

"Keep Left", but the shadow went to the right. Very nice shot.

Great Shadow Shot! I am also attracted to road signs. While in high school I was pretty shy. A bunch of boys stole a road sign and attached it to my locker. You need to know here that my nickname is Ali. With that said...

The sign read:

No Parking in Alley

I wanted to crawl in a hole and die at the time! Now I think that they were pretty creative!

I especially like the way the sign says to keep left but the shadow makes you look right. Nicely done! Happy SSS.

Until now I didn't know who Jeffery Smart was. Thanks. I love your photo, road signs are everywhere, and so many people just ignore them, either obeying or as art. Wonderful shot.

I lioke the angle you chose for the shot and the idea as well. I had been thinking of a new project with signs. I took one a couple of weeks ago, so maybe that will be my next ss.

I will have to check out smart's work.
